THE CEO Way

Our first event of the year 2022-23 was a pre-recruitment event- the CEO Way'', a problem solving challenge consisting of a guest speaker session followed by a competition. The interactive session was conducted by Mr. Archit Nanda, an IIT Bombay alumnus from the Class of ’21. He is the Co-Founder and CEO of CoinMint, a startup aimed to democratize access to the ever-changing and challenging world of Cryptocurrencies. He also comes in with the rich experience of having worked with Unacademy as Director of Growth & Strategy, CEO’s Office.

In the session, Archit shared his experiences with starting up, and how one should learn the importance of the problem itself, and not their own solution. 💡

The competition that followed required students in teams of a maximum of three to don a CEO’s hat, apply leadership techniques and come up with exciting solutions.

The problems statements as follows were diverse, interesting, and based on upcoming domains in the startup world.

  • An Indian edtech startup enabled a number of students to learn from home during the pandemic. The easing of COVID-19 restrictions and screen time concerns for kids have led to a drop in enrollment amidst a funding winter. It is a challenge for the CEO to look for ways to sustain the challenge. Chart out an approach you would take as the CEO to bring the company out of this crisis.

  • OTT platforms have emerged as a convenient mode of entertainment for people right from the comfort of their homes. It brought in the idea of binging and got its users addicted to it. With lockdown getting lifted and regular commutes to work, the time people have on hand has reduced substantially. Out-of-home entertainment like cinema watching, concerts, and short-form content like reels, and Youtube shorts have also gained prominence. As the CEO of an OTT platform, prepare a roadmap and work through a solution to stay relevant in the ever-changing media industry

  • An exercise equipment and media company uses the subscription model to enable smart fitness practices and training for its users. It has services like online classes and video content supporting its equipment (see image for reference). With gyms, parks, and outdoor services opening up, the company lost out on a lot of sales. Chart out an approach a CEO can take to utilize the product and its utilities in such a situation.

We were glad to see stellar quality entries from all the participants. All the entries were judged by our guest speaker Archit Nanda.

The top 3 winners of the competition received cash prizes worth INR 10K and got bonus points for the Junior Member recruitment of ShARE’s Global Leadership Programme 2022!

Special mention to the students who worked hard and missed the podium finish by only a small margin.
