Inclusive transition to sustainable energy!

Recently, the Union Ministry of Power released a draft National Electricity Policy 2021 aiming for a transition to clean and sustainable energy generation. This aligns with the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 7 of the UN or the ‘175 GW by 2022’ target.


While these are noble efforts to save the planet and work towards a better future, there are socio-economic factors that must be taken into consideration. Certain examples being the livelihood of close to 1.2 million people employed in coal mines and the estimated $1.4 trillion required for financing this energy transition.



Including every stakeholder and his/her good while looking towards developing the nation is a very important aspect. The transition must happen to keep in mind sustainable development and inclusive growth.
